yes, i am back at school and i do have a computer now, but i just haven't had time to blog. i am literally not even finished unpacking yet. it's so sad. our room is a complete and total mess and my roommate jen and i have not done a thing but play with our new computers and go to class. i actually dropped a class already so i'm down to 12 hours, the lightest load you can possibly take and still be considered full-time here. i'm such a slacker lately... but the few classes i kept seem like they might be hard.

oh well, gotta go. there's free pizza in the lobby :)

let me tell you about paint day! our room isn't the one we chose. sound complicated? it is. we chose our room from a floor plan/map that housing provided. we chose a lovely corner room facing the front lawn of the school, wrote down the number printed there on the map, and gave it to them. they said it was all ok, signed us up for room 211, and we went on our merry way. well, friday, we go upstairs to paint, only to find 211 across the hall and down a room from our glorius corner room. instead of the front lawn, we face the back parking lot of our dorm. our wall was so messed up it looked like someone had had target practice in there. i am fuming mad. we informed our building manager that it wasn't the room we signed up for, but all she could offer in the way of help was "the map must have been numbered wrong." the injustice! i'm going to be living in that room all year now because of their incompetence. wesleyan doesn't take great pains to fix such mistakes. *steam and grr*

well, almost everyone is back at school now. except me. i go back this sunday. can't wait to get back to my great room facing the parking lot. *sarcasm* we even get the chapel bells echoing through in near stereo at a million decibels every half hour, with songs at 12:05 and 6:05 PM. go us...

i won't be here tomorrow. i'm going to buckhannon to paint my room for school. yes, not only do they get the rooms painted for free by us students, but they charge us $50 if we do a bad job. robbing us blind, let me tell you. *grumble* my roommate jen from pittsburg is coming down and nick will be there too. i expect we'll all have lots of fun and go out to eat somewhere while we're covered in paint and make total fools of ourselves. we're goofy. i hope the bookstore is open; then maybe i can get a headstart on buying my millions of dollars worth of books. maybe there will even be a few used ones there. i move in next sunday, the 26th of august. i hope they give us our new laptops monday, because if we have to wait on those things, i may explode. i really don't know how i've done without my old one all summer, but i have. i actually didn't miss it as much as i thought i would, which is weird, because i used it all the time. our new ones will probably suck just as bad as the old ones, though, because they are ibm thinkpads. pieces of poo. i'm convinced that they are set to self-destruct so that ibm can sell replacement parts (or in the case of wesleyan, that the school can rake in insurance money). i had that laptop for 2 years, and i had to replace the keyboard, systemboard, battery latches(twice), battery, and ac adapter. and i may have even forgotten something. if i wasn't 'leasing' that thing through my school, i would have paid more than it was worth to repair it. *bitterness*

so yeah, anyway, i'll be gone tomorrow....

GRRR!!!! i wanted to put tagpro by dan lewis at danlewis.org up on my page but after having lots of problems and finally reviewing tons of angelfire help files, i've just learned that angelfire does not allow the use of custom CGI scripts. this is infuriating!! i'm steaming. anyone know of a free host that would allow me to run this script? and better yet, one without all these annoying ads? i'm thoroughly fed up with this crap angelfire keeps pushing on me. i just can't stand it anymore.

the state fair is in town. i used to love it when i was a kid, seeing all the people, riding the rides, eating lots of deep-fried food. sounds like a kid's paradise huh? but the 20 year old me just can't get that excited anymore about an event that wastes so much money, is so freaking hot you can't move, and won't even bring in good concerts. last year i saw A*teens, Blaque, and LFO there, but none of those are that exciting. a few years ago i saw Savage Garden and Blessed Union of Souls, but really, these are soft-pop bands. the only other stuff they bring in is country. this year they have O-town and 98 degrees, but i just couldn't bring myself to go all out with a teenage teeny bopper concert. i just don't have the heart for it anymore. i wish they would open up and realize that the people living here might want to listen to some real rock, or even rap, but it won't happen. anyway, i took a trip around the fairgrounds yesterday, but i felt like i was about to die of heat exhaustion, so i left early. tomorrow (tues) evening, i'll be visiting again with my family. hopefully it will be cooler.

on the upside: when i went yesterday, the candy chef from The Greenbrier made all sorts of delightful confections in her demonstration and then let us eat them all. mmm... chocolate covered strawberries....

my boyfriend works for PBS in athens, OH. this morning, he was doing board op, which means he runs the breaks between shows and puts in the annoying little symbol in the corner with the station's logo. anyway, weekday mornings are kids shows, as we all know, and when he was running teletubbies, he told me that they were "singing about an small mammal exploding." i almost exploded myself, thinking about that, and finally asked, "what song is that?" he told me it was a very common song, but he didn't think kids really thought about the words. again, i asked what it was. his reply?

well folks, angelfire has removed egofreeze's page sinnerscereal for violation of terms of service. since he was the one who provided the lovely script to get rid of all my popups, i've rethought the issue and decided to let them pop for time being. i'd rather keep my site than be popup free anyway. but since he was one of the few people to actually link me, i'm going to be hurting now. my traffic has slowed to a crawl that threatens to soon halt.

i think i'm in love... with an aim buddy who's completely automated. this is the coolest thing ever. you just add the name SmarterChild to your buddy list and say hello or hi to him and he starts talking to you. you can ask it for all kinds of information and even play games with it. it tells you the weather, local movie listings, news headlines, stock quotes, your horoscope, and lots more. my favorite? type odd news. it brings back some interesting results

tonight is my brother's theater showcase, so i'll be watching several short weird plays all evening. oh joyous day. i'm going back to the optometrist for a contact check too. it's a full day...

i'm home! did you miss me?

i had lots of fun at nick's. shopped, slept in, cooked yummy food with my baby, and all around was a lazy bum. what more could you ask for? now i just have 3 more weeks until school starts again. i'm looking forward to going back, being on campus and feeling that rush. i must like the smell of newness and fear that hovers around the freshmen or something. plus, i can't wait to get my paws on my new laptop. i have a great big corner room with hardwood floors and two windows waiting there for me. my big's even going to be my roomie! it's going to be a good year, i can feel it. i can't wait to see my kappa phi sisters again and start with the business of the year. my classes look fun this semester too! i love fall, it's a great season. it's really beautiful at wesleyan in the fall....

i'm getting a little too poetic and mushy here, so i'll cool it for now ;)

well, i'm in ohio (have been for days now i guess) and having fun. nick's apartment is ghet-to! what a dump, but at least it's better than living in a dorm. it's hot as all get out here and their landlord won't come fix their air conditioner, so we're just stuck roasting all day.

guys shouldn't be living together. noone does much of anything to an apartment unless it's a girl. this one is so bare and gross. and guys don't seem to care if the floor is all gross and crummy either, just as long as their are clean cups to drink out of. it's pretty bad. boys seem to have a funk all their own, and no amount of air flow quite gets that out. i hope it's just nick's roommate, because he doesn't seem to smell that way himself.

we went to columbus yesterday -- very fun. we spent a few hours in city center mall, my fav. victoria secret was giving $5 off just for trying on any body by victoria bra, so i got $5 off my undies. i'm qutie pleased. i didn't buy much else though. hopefully we'll be going shopping again tomorrow, but here in athens or around this time. anyplace as long as it's air conditioned will be fine with me.
